Who starred in the twos?

VFL

Richmond Tigers

Sam Lloyd (FWD, $449K) had 33 touches and bagged 4 goals for 137 points. He’s not relevant in classic and we probably won’t see him unless Jack Riewoldt doesn’t get up after his concussion. Mabior Chol (FWD, $170K) is in some ripping form and had another 101 and 21 touches on the weekend, but it is going to be tough to break into that Richmond side. Ivan Soldo (RUC, $332K) had another 44 hitouts but I think he will only get a game if Nankervis is rested. Jacob Townsend (FWD, $369K) kicked 2 goals and scored 92, and is probably ahead of Lloyd to fill the Riewoldt position if he doesn’t play. Corey Ellis (DEF/MID, $366K) was solid with 28 touches and 78 points, and is in the running to replace Houli after his injury.

Western Bulldogs (Footscray)

Tom Campbell (RUC, $509K) won 72 hitouts and laid 8 tackles for 149 points! The Bulldogs seem pretty happy to role with Boyd and Roughead so I don’t think he will play anytime soon. Lukas Webb (MID/FWD, $323K) managed 31 touches and a goal but only averaged 49 in the AFL. Mitch Wallis (FWD/MID, $543K) scored 107 from 26 touches and a goal, and put his hand up for a recall. Josh Dunkley (FWD, $542K) was dropped despite a solid start to the year, and only managed 22 touches and 83 points in the VFL.

Collingwood Magpies

Callum Brown (MID/FWD, $385K) laid 10 tackles and had 25 touches for 106 points on the weekend, and has been quite good for his owners as an inflated rookie, averaging 60 and making $100K. He probably won’t be coming back in anytime soon though. Adam Oxley (DEF, $344K) was solid with 22 touches and 6 marks for 94 points, but was picked up very late in the rookie draft and will probably only come in if injuries occur. Sam Murray (DEF, $495K) scored 85 points from 22 touches and 8 marks, but Nathan Buckley said he may be considered ‘later in the year’. Travis Varcoe is set to miss for the Pies but Daniel Wells is set to replace him after he was rested this week.

Geelong Cats

Sam Simpson (FWD, $236K) is in some great form, and he scored 140 from 32 touches, 8 marks 6 tackles and a goal and is averaging 101 as a mature aged forward. He is certainly in contention for a game at some stage this season. Ryan Abott (RUC, $170K) scored 94 points from 20 touches and 21 hitouts, and is a huge chance to come in this week with Ratugolea out for the year. He was a chance last week and an even bigger chance this week. Zach Guthrie (DEF, $297K) had 17 touches and 9 marks for 94 points, but blew his chance at AFL level and may have to wait a little longer before he gets another chance. After a huge week last week, Gryan Miers (FWD, $170K) only managed 40 points from 2 goals, but is an option for the Cats with Ratugolea down.

Carlton Blues (Northern Blues)

Jack Silvagni (FWD, $342K) is in some good VFL form after having 104 points from 22 touches and 7 tackles. He’s not fantasy relevant though if he comes back in. Angus Schumacher (DEF/MID, $170K) had 11 touches and took 4 marks for 53 points, and if Alex Silvagni or Caleb Marchbank don’t get up, might be a chance to come in for Tom Williamson after his back injury, but I am very doubtful. I’d also have Harrison Macreadie (DEF, $229K) ahead of him but he managed 4 handballs for 8 points on the weekend.

Essendon Bombers

Mitch Brown (DEF, $390K) had a day out with 20 touches, 10

marks and 4 goals. He’s not an option in fantasy though. Darcy Parish (FWD/MID, $488K) was good with 28 touches and 96 points but broke his thumb and is out for about 8 weeks. Mason Redman (DEF, $176K) was dece

nt with 23 touches and 8 marks, and could be one we see later in the year if any injuries come up. Aaron Francis (DEF/FWD, $259K) is doing really well after his time out, with 84 points from19 touches and 9 marks. Expect him to get a game at some stage.

Melbourne Demons (Casey)

Dom Tyson (MID, $566K) responded well after being dropped with 35 touches, 10 marks, 10 tackles, 2 goals and 161 points. He could come b

ack in but it will be a hard team to crack into. Billy Stretch (MID, $462K) was good as well with 28 touches and 10 tackles or 129 points but I suggest Tyson is ahead of him to come back in. Jay Kennedy-Harris (MID, $383K) was good again with 113 and 2 goals but is very inconsistent, even at VFL level. Harley Balic (MID/FWD, $346K) was solid with 81 points from 3 goals.

North Melbourne

Cameron Zurhaar (FWD, $269K) will be first in line if Waite gets rested after snagging 4 goals for 109 points. He’s not relevant at his price though. Brayden Preuss (RUC, $445K) was quite good with 48 hitouts and 17 touches for 105 points but I doubt we’ll see him anytime soon. Kyron Hayden (MID, $170K) was very good with 23 touches and a goal for 91 points and could be one that we see later in the season Paul Ahern (FWD/MID, $170K) wasn’t too bad with 22 touches and 3 tackles for 68 points. Hopefully, we see him at some stage, which could be this week. Mitch Hibberd (DEF, $235K) was a little below par but was apparently monitored with his TOG %. He had 15 touches for 53 points.

Hawthorn Hawks (Box Hill)

Daniel Howe (MID, $501K) was good with 26 touches, 10 marks and 2 goals for 122 points. If he was to come in, he’d likely tag someone. Kieron Lovell (MID, $210K) had 20 touches and took 6 marks for 66 points, but James Cousins would come in ahead of him, after being a late out last week. Teia Miles (DEF/FWD, $266K) is in some nice form, and gathered 23 touches, 8 marks and 6 tackles for 111 points on the weekend. Probably won’t come in, and isn’t relevant in classic.

St Kilda Saints (Sandringham)

David Armitage (MID, $435K) was huge with 39 touches and 10 tackles but is getting on and the Saints are looking to inject some more youth. Billy Longer (RUC, $473K) was also good with 57 hitouts and a goal for 113 points. Ben Paton (DEF, $180K) was good again with 24 touches and 91 points. Josh Battle (FWD, $170K) was very good with 16 touches and 3 goals for 84 points and could come in at some stage this year for the Saints.

NEAFL

Brisbane Lions

Tom Bell (FWD, $416K) had a huge day with 42 touches, 8 marks and 1.3 for 140 points. He’s not fantasy relevant in AFL though. Ryan Bastinac (MID, $536K) was good as well with 30 touches and 119 points. He is too expensive though. Josh Walker (DEF/FWD, $358K) scored 87 points and is set to come in this week for Matt Eagles, who is out for a couple of weeks. You wouldn’t touch him though. Corey Lyons (MID, $170K) was decent again with 21 touches and 0.2. He really excites me watching his highlights, and could be one the Lions give an opportunity to later in the year.

Sydney Swans

Nic Newman (MID, $567K) is in some ripping NEAFL form and had 29 touches, 7 tackles and 2 goals for 140 on the weekend. I would’ve thought he’d be the best replacement for Callum Mills but apparently not. Robbie Fox (MID, $$273K) played a couple of games early but was dropped, and scored 120 from 33 touches. Probably won’t be coming back in anytime soon. Darcy Cameron (RUC, $170K) had another good game with 31 hitouts, 5 tackles, 7 marks and kicked a goal for 109 points. He’s doing everything right but just can’t seem to get the opportunity to play AFL. Colin O’Riiordan (DEF, $170K) was good with 26 touches, 10 marks and a goal for 105 points, and if Riley Stoddart doesn’t get the job done, they may want to give him a run at the top level.

GWS Giants

Isaac Cumming (DEF, $191K) responded well after getting dropped, with 33 touches, 10 marks, 5 tackles, 2.2 and 147 fantasy points. It just proves the difference between the NEAFL and AFL. He may get another run soon. Jeremy Finlayson (DEF/MID, $401K) is still owned by 22% and scored. 115 points from 25 touches and 2 goals on the weekend. I have a feeling he could come straight back in, or a couple of weeks’ time, but I can’t be sure. Nick Shipley (MID, $170K) had another solid game with 26 touches and 11 tackles for 113. With the GWS in some terrible form, they might give him another chance. Lachlan Keeffe (DEF/FWD, $253K) scored 46 points and we probably won’t see him again.

SANFL

Port Adelaide

Jasper Pittard (DEF, $513K) was good with 30 touches and 10 marks for 118 points and will be a chance to come in this week. Dom Barry (MID, $299K) is pretty much the only other relevant one and he managed 23 touches and 6 marks for 74 points and I don’t think he’ll be back playing anytime soon.

Adelaide Crows

Curtly Hampton (MID, $430K) was okay with 23 touches and 3 goals for 108 points. He’s probably not relevant at his price but could be one to look at in draft if he gets another game. Lachlan Murphy (FWD/DEF, $268K) was sent back to the SANFL and could only manage 17 touches and 4 marks for 71 points. He probably won’t come in this week but will put his hand up for another chance. Patrick Wilson (MID/FWD, $170K) was a little down on usual performance but still managed 19 touches for 68 points. He could get a game soon.

WAFL

Fremantle Dockers

Stefan Giro (MID, $170K) didn’t play last week but I am almost certain he’ll play this week after Ross Lyon declared he would ‘double down’ this week and that it’s time to bring in some youth. He had 34 touches, 7 marks, 4 tackles and 0.2 on his way to 134 points. Taylin Duman (DEF, $238K) had a huge game with 25 touches and 14 marks. He could come in as well. Michael Apeness (FWD, $170K) is almost a lock to come in this week with Aaron Sandilands out with a concussion. He will share the ruck role with Brennan Cox, and he could score decent, but he won’t be able to keep it up when Sandi is back in. He scored 115 in the WAFL with 20 touches, 7 marks and 32 hitouts. Harley Bennell (FWD, $249K) played mainly in midfield until he was managed in the second half. He scored 73 from 16 touches, 7 marks and 3 tackles. He could come in later this season but will be eased into it.

West Coast Eagles

Luke Partington (FWD, $273K) was good with 33 touches, 7 marks and a goal for 123 points and could be looked at by the Eagles is any injuries pop up. He is probably just too expensive to be picked in classic. Francis Watson (DEF, $170K) was decent with 22 touches, 5 marks and 5 tackles for 89 points. If he manages to get a game, which is probably unlikely this year, he will be a solid bench option in defence.

Top 3 for the week: (to come in)

  1. Stefan Giro (FRE)
  2. Michael Apeness (FRE)
  3. Paul Ahern (ROOS)

Some smokey’s could be Ryan Abbott or Sam Simpson for the cats.
