6:30pm Thursday 04/08/2016

Round 21 teams are out, and DT finals are in full swing. For an unfortunate few the season is already over with completion of elimination finals last week. Stef Martin is back in, but Sam Jacobs is not. Ruck bench cover Mason Cox is also out with a niggle. Some may have held Matthew Suckling who is back in this week. A few rookies are out with Sam J. Reid, Aaron Francis, Harrison Himmelberg, Darcy Parish.
We have a few late season rookies being played with David Cuningham (Mid $174,000 AF $125,800 DT), Ryan Burton (Fwd $159,000 AF $143,800 DT), Jesse Palmer (Fwd $125,000 AF $128,200 DT) and Jake Long (Fwd/Mid $125,000 AF $121,300 DT) confirmed to play even though its a Sunday game.

Shags’ Watchlist

Brodie Grundy (Ruck $524,000 be 104 AF, $547,600 be 97 DT) has certainly fired late in the season, his last 5 game average is 112.2. A definite option if you need to upgrade a Ruck injury.

David Cuningham

Shags’ Watchlist

Its reached the stage where many will have complete teams and you are looking for the best. I’d dont think I would be putting too much out by saying Sam Docherty (Def $529,000 AF be 98 $559,800 be 97 DT) is the best defender premium going around, and he plays Brisbane lions this week.

Shags’ Watchlist

If you are a bit shorter on cash and are looking for a fallen premium defender, traditional must have Luke Hodge (Def. Mid/Def $423,000 AF $428,600 DT) is possibly the cheapest he has been since he was a rookie with a recent 49 keeping his scores right down. Some may take the punt his 95 last week is him coming back to form.

GWS Giants v West Coast Eagles at Spotless Stadium (4.35pm)

B Heath Shaw, Zac Williams, Nick Haynes

Shags’ Watchlist

Under a lot of coaches radars but performing consistently has been Stephen Coniglio (Mid. $529,000 AF $554,400 DT) averaging 107.4 for last 5 games, and impressively tonning up 6 times out of his last 7 games. You wouldn’t be faulted grabbing him to improve your midfield.

St Kilda v Sydney Swans at Etihad Stadium (7.25pm)

B Dylan Roberton, Sam Fisher, Sean Dempster
HB Jack Newnes, Sam Gilbert, Jarryn Geary
C Leigh Montagna, David Armitage, Blake Acres

F George Hewett, Gary Rohan, Dean Towers
FOL Sam Naismith, Kieren Jack, Luke Parker
I/C Harry Cunningham, Toby Nankervis, Tom Papley, Xavier Richards
EMG Jordan Foote, Harrison Marsh, Ben McGlynn
No Change

Shags’ Watchlist

Am I allowed to rave about Josh P. Kennedy (Mid. $574,000 AF $ 608,700 DT) again? Yes. 5 game average of 123.3, hes tonned up every game since round 15. Easiely a late season top midfield option. Problem is he is now top dollar.

Brendon Ah Chee (Omitted), John Butcher (Omitted), Paul Stewart (Omitted)
Jesse Palmer

B Sam Frost, Tom McDonald, Neville Jetta
HB Jayden Hunt, Oscar McDonald, Tomas Bugg
C Christian Petracca, Bernie Vince, Dom Tyson
HF Jeff Garlett, Jack Watts, Aaron Vandenberg
F James Harmes, Jesse Hogan, Dean Kent
FOL Max Gawn, Nathan Jones, Jack Viney
I/C Angus Brayshaw, Clayton Oliver, Billy Stretch, Cameron Pedersen
EMG Chris Dawes, Colin Garland, Alex Neal-Bullen
Jesse Hogan
Sam Weideman (Quad)

Shags’ Watchlist

Talking about upgrading to the best in the game, if you have a luxury or ruck injury, you cannot go past Max Gawn (Ruck $557,000 AF $ 585,200 DT) who smashed a 144 last week, and no reason he wont go huge again against underdone Lobbe at Port.

Matt Rosa Callum Ah Chee Aaron Hall Jarrod Garlett
Clay Cameron Sean Lemmens Seb Tape
Keegan Brooksby Adam Saad Aaron Hall
Tom Nicholls (Knee) Sean Lemmens (Omitted) Alex Sexton (Quad

Shags’ Watchlist

Son of dons superstar, Bombers are finally giving Jake Long (Fwd/Mid $125,000 AF $121,300 DT) a run. He was already on a few peoples radar preseason, and his DPP status is handy, if you need a cheap downgrade even if just for 1 week I’d argue he is the best option. Plays an undermanned Suns lineup as well.

Any chance of Clay Smith being a late out?

    • Fooz

      August 11, 2016 at 7:02 pm

At least we’ll know before lockout

      • Andy.B

        August 11, 2016 at 8:04 pm

Seems a bit strange that they’ve named him. I’ve already traded him out for Greene, but I could get rid of Petracca instead.

    August 11, 2016 at 6:32 pm

Should I take naismiths score against hickey? Or obrien’s score against sandi??

    • Mike

      August 11, 2016 at 6:46 pm

Naismith IMO, Sandi still quality. Lycett only got 70 last week and Nic Nat got 55

    August 11, 2016 at 6:34 pm

Looks like Travis joke is gone at the Pies..hope he don’t wind up in QLD.

  4. Stevo

    August 11, 2016 at 6:37 pm

Which 2 to pick out of Dahlhaus, Riewoldt and Gray? Currently didn’t pick gray, thoughts?

    • Mike

      August 11, 2016 at 6:47 pm

Yep stick with what you’ve already got.

    • el chapo

      August 11, 2016 at 7:14 pm

Dahlhaus and Riewoldt have much easier runs home and end on Freo and Brisbane respectively. I would take those two above Gray

  5. yippy

    August 11, 2016 at 6:38 pm

Zorko in this week and Dahlhaus in next week (NO Def bench cover this week)

or Dahlhaus in this week and Zorko in next week (With Wigg as def bench cover this week)

    • Mike

      August 11, 2016 at 6:48 pm

I think Zorko has the potential to go big this week, definitely won’t be tagged and is playing Carlton who bled points last week. If you are in a must win game this week I’d be going Zorko, if you have a week off I’d get Dahl to save $$$

  6. Fooz

    August 11, 2016 at 6:40 pm

    jizers. Mid-price carnage this week

  7. Thomas

    August 11, 2016 at 6:50 pm

Anyone know anything about David Cuningham, Ryan Burton, Jesse Palmer or Jake Long? Which would be the best to trade in for a F8/D8?

    • Ryan

      August 11, 2016 at 8:14 pm

for f8, just get apexes for 120k (fantasy) but i remember long doing good in the pre0season and was on my rookie watchlist

  8. Adam

    August 11, 2016 at 6:54 pm

Hey guys. I’m not playing this week as I’ve gone into the preliminary next week. Do you think i should double downgrade or do the traditional downgrade upgrade this week?
Thanks for your help in advance

    • el chapo

      August 11, 2016 at 7:18 pm

      I’d double downgrade

    • Ryan

      August 11, 2016 at 8:15 pm

double downgrade, but watch that you don’t have too much in bank in case there is mega resting like last year. i actually had so much left over i finished with about 150k on bank last year cause of sideways

  9. matt

    August 11, 2016 at 6:54 pm

    option 1 or 2
    1. yeo to dahl and walters to I,heeney
    2. yeo to bont and walters to rookie mid(have c smith and marcov as bench cover)

    • matt

      August 11, 2016 at 6:56 pm

sorry c smith or marcov with play on the field

  10. Robert

    August 11, 2016 at 6:55 pm

Back: Shaw, Docherty, Simpson, Laird, Bartel, Johanissen (Broad, Castagna)

Mid: Danger, Rocky, Pendles, Selwood, Titch, Lewis, Hunter, Sidey (Jansen, Menagola)

    Ruck: Gawn, Martin (Cox, Naismith)

For: Merrett, Martin, Montagna, Gray, Buddy, I.Smith (Reid, Phillips)

My first trade is I.Smith to Dahlhaus. I then have 15k to do my second trade, what would you do lads? Currently thinking Selwood to Treloar

    • Dwayne Johnson

      August 11, 2016 at 7:07 pm

Personally I think Selwood will outscore danger this week :/ but if you were too offload him I’d bring in one of the two I mentioned below as they have an amazing run home for DT finals

  11. Dwayne Johnson

    August 11, 2016 at 7:01 pm

Hey guys? Who to bring in and for whome?

    Gibbs/Cripps for Gaff/Ebert?

    • Robert

      August 11, 2016 at 7:05 pm

Cripps for Ebert. I rate Gaff a bit higher than Ebert. And I think Cripps is an awesome unique in finals, been killing it lately too. Could you help above? Cheers

      • Dwayne Johnson

        August 11, 2016 at 7:08 pm

Thanks for your opinion, that’s what I’m currently rolling with

Who do I get to upgrade Naismith? Goldy or Grundy?

  13. Rohan

    August 11, 2016 at 7:25 pm

who to score higher; jansen, c.smith, phillips. trading one, fielding another

    • Tom

      August 11, 2016 at 8:47 pm

would have to go clay smith on field against pies under roof

  14. Brad

    August 11, 2016 at 7:32 pm

Steven or Treloar? Treloar has the Suns next week which is quite appealing for a prelim

  15. Tom

    August 11, 2016 at 7:45 pm

hey guys, i’m really such as what to do here:
one downgrade this week and pendles to JPK even though pendles is playing? still have monegola on field but i couldn’t upgrade him anyway, not enough cash. Or do i keep pendles hope he plays alright and double downgrade. The only difference between these two is i will upgrade monegola next week either way with a downgrade-upgrade traditional, but then in the last week if i get in JPK i could only upgrade one of my ‘premos’ like vince to someone better, e.g. doch OR if i keep pendles and go double downgrade this week, i can upgrade menegola this next week but then in last week i would have enough cash to upgrade people like vince and blicavs, or hunter if he keeps underperforming.
Any help would be great thanks guys!! hope it makes sense!

    • Rohan

      August 11, 2016 at 8:20 pm

      1. bont, dogs have no midfield atm
      2. neale, massive POD and is proven scorer, will score even better with sandi back
      3. adams, POD again, massive scores in the last few weeks
      4. mitchell, swans have a solid run home and is calvins #4 captain
      5. gibbs, easy run home and nice value
