Def: Goddard Birchall Hibberd Vlastuin Goodes Terlich (Pittard Laird)
Mid: Ablett Swan Watson Swallow Cotchin Wines O’meara Mayes (viney Kommer)
    Ruc: Bellchambers Leuenberger (Blicavs Currie)
Fwd: Martin Rockliff Bartel Kennedy Wright Macaffer (Rowe B.Kennedy)

have 525k in the bank was thinking of going Wines > Pendlebury and Mayes > Mitchell

whats everyones thoughts any advice would be great

Am I crazy for going Stokes over Roughy this week? Suits bye better (3R11-3R12 in FWD rather than 4R11 and 2R12) and has posted a nice little average of 100 in last 3, could do some damage in the next few weeks on easy teams and looks to be a long term keeper with great scores on all types of teams. Will be about a 10% difference in ownership, even more so among DT Talk readers? Consistent 85-110s so I’m all aboard.

      May 23, 2013 at 10:52 pm

I would do it too, he appears much better than Roughead to me but I’m getting Watson this week.

    • Ben

      May 24, 2013 at 2:27 am

Yeah I got stokes in too his looking good and fits in with my bye structure

  3. Jack

    May 23, 2013 at 10:54 pm

    Mayes to roughy or stokes

    • D Day

      May 24, 2013 at 9:44 am

Flip a coin really. I think Roughy has a higher ceiling, but like all big men, can struggle in games due to weather / opponents etc. I think Stokes will be more consistant but not as high ceiling.

DEF: Goddard, Heppel, Terlich, Scotland, Heath, Goodes (Stevenson, Pittard)
MID: Ablett, Swan, S.Selwood, O’Mera, Priddis, Fyfe, Gibbs, Vlastuin (Evans, Viney)
    RUC: Cox, Luenberger (Gawn, Currie)
FWD: Martin, Kennedy, Roughhead, Franklin, Stevie J, Dwyer (Mayes, Macaffer)

    Bank: $331,800

    Currently thinking:
    Stevenson -> Thurlow
    Heath -> Ellis
    Stevenson -> Thurlow
Heath -> Any Premo Midfelder (Lids/Jack/?) by swapping Gibbs back to Def

I’m not sure if Ellis is worth it.. Any other opinions welcome!

    • Jarrad

      May 23, 2013 at 11:34 pm

I traded in Lids this week. He should be about as good as Watson for the rest of the year and has a round 11 bye which is perhaps the hardest bye round to find mid premos in. So I’d definitely promote getting in Lids this week.

Also, Ellis won’t score as much as Lids this week. I’m so sure that I will eat my hat (if I can find a hat that I own) if Ellis scores more than Lids.

With the DPP swap you’re also getting Gibbs back to his more preferred position. Win-win :D

      • Charlie Sheen

        May 23, 2013 at 11:48 pm

Cheers good point Jarrad, I’m going to skip Ellis, too risky.

So hard to Decide.. S.Mitchell also has a Rd11 bye and has Melbourne and GC coming up, although could be rested like last year..

I could just get in K.Jack and then trade Viney/Evans to Cotchin when the Rd12 byes come as Cotchin will be cheap..

Gah thinking to much, I’ll leave the last trade til tomorrow

    May 23, 2013 at 11:15 pm

Just wondering who to bench this weekend in my defence. My defence as it stands after trades this weekend: Goddard, Scotland, Birchall, Hartlett, Goodes, Vlastuin (Terlich, Thurlow)

Was thinking of possibly swapping Hartlett and Terlich but I’m not sure if that’s a good idea. Thoughts?

    • Stuart

      May 24, 2013 at 12:19 am

Terlich will see alot of the ball as it will be down his end. Too bad it will be in the hands of the Dockers! Sorry can’t answer your question, on current form: Terlich

  6. inthefog

    May 23, 2013 at 11:25 pm

If you aren’t trading Hartlett you gotta start him, I say. That said, consider starting Terlich over Goodes.

    • Vishnu27

      May 23, 2013 at 11:34 pm

Terlich on the bench is something I wouldn’t do with that line up. He’s in decent form, gets enough ball, tackles & is playing at Subi this week. I’d go with inthefog: Goodes is your pinerider

    • Jarrad

      May 23, 2013 at 11:36 pm

Cheers guys. That was probably the only other option I could think of, and it does sound like a good idea. Let’s hope it pays off *crosses fingers*

DEF: Goddard, Enright, Heppell, Gibbs, Hanley, Terlich (Goodes, Saunders)
MID: Swan, Ablett, Pendlebury, Dangerfield, Kennedy, Wines, O’Meara, Evans (Crouch, Saunders)
    RUC: Cox, Leuenberger (Blicavs, Daw)
FWD: Rockliff, Martin, Bartel, Kennedy, D.Thomas, Macaffer (Mayes, Lee)

Thinking Goodes – Thurlow and Wines – Priddis to free up cash. Could possibly go S.Mitchell or Barlow but thinking its better to go Priddis as I save an extra 100k. Thoughts?

    • toocoolforlaos

im trading out neade and stevenson rather than mayes and heath, due to the fact of having playing emergencies.
i know they will lose cash, but rather have players with (e), than a 0 if there is a late out.

  10. Stuart

    May 24, 2013 at 12:24 am

Seriously thinking of trading Dwyer back in as much as it will kill me. In need of a Rd. 13 bye fwd. and there’s not much to choose from premo wise so i may as well make some cash. He’s in good form and has a pretty soft run in the lead up to the byes. It will also give me some cash to play with. Am I an idiot for thinking about doing this? Will probably trade him in round 12 for a 11/12 bye premo. Other option might be T.Lynch, has been pretty consistent but is 400k

    • Stuart

      May 24, 2013 at 9:01 am

Scratch that, might just take the risk of making the Staker downgrade a week early.

    Thurlow vs port (aami)

    • JonnieV

      May 24, 2013 at 10:34 am

I’m going for a Round 11 Premo also and this was my list with Fyfe in there alsoe. I ended up going with Barlow (ended up being Barlow or Fyfe).

S Mitchell – with the Hawks going so well, Mitchell could be rested during the year perhaps (thinking the same with J Selwood)
Boyd – hasn’t shown enough…..yet (thinking Rnd 13 trade O’Meara out to Boyd if Boyd clicks really soon)
Deledio and Cotchin – don’t play Melbourne for the rest of the year

Barlow plays Melbourne this week AND plays GWS and Melbourne again this year (Melbourne twice). Seems to be a more favourable draw than the Richmond guys.

The above I know are weak reasons but any reason to help me decide will do because I dont see much difference amongst these players. So I’m going for Barlow purely for the draw

      May 24, 2013 at 10:49 am

      thx guys, my thoughts exactly!!

      trades for the week –

      pittard/neade > thurlow/vlastuin

which means i have got rid of 7 straight power players and have 29/30 green dots :)

  16. Simon

    May 24, 2013 at 9:50 am

Hope Sam Colquhoun plays a good one this weekend and establishes himself some JS over the bye rounds. He’ll be a great downgrade for Whitfield or Evans and create a DPP link with DEF. Oh, and he’ll go up in price.

    Fingers crossed!

  17. Simon

    May 24, 2013 at 10:05 am

Two questions – One – Will Mayes cop the vest again? I’m bringing in the big Bud this week, was going to trade out Neade so he doesn’t leak any more cash, but thought maybe Mayes may be the better go. If he gets the vest he could dive another chunk and take weeks to recover, while Neade has the week off keeping his value.

Two – Ellis. At $380k or so will he average above that value, or just a flash in the pan. Can’t see him getting a tag over Lids, Cotch, Dusty so could keep racking up the possesions.

    Any thoughts would be welcomed!

    • Billy

      May 24, 2013 at 10:20 am

Mayes vested last week for a rest only according to whispers online and shouldnt be a worry but the only concern is hes high break even and potential to leak cash as you have already pointed out

ellis is further back on the tag list but he will make you 60k this week if you bring him in and could well be a terrific step ladder or even a hold!

    • DreamKillaz

      May 24, 2013 at 12:04 pm

If you are planning on trading them both out, trade Mayes first since Neade’s price won’t be changing this week. If you have to start them different story, but if they are both on the bench trade Mayes

  18. Billy

    May 24, 2013 at 10:17 am

Goddard, Birchall, Hartlett, Terlich, Goodes, Vlastuin (Heath, Stevenson)
Ablett, Swan, Pendles, Fyfe, Danger, Omeara, Wines, Mayes (Evans, Lonergan)
    Cox, Burger (Blicavs, Rowe)
Martin, Rocky, Bartel, Kennedy, Franklin, LeCras (Macaffer, OHailpin)

    100k in the bank

I am considering the trade option Hartlett to Ellis and Stevenson to Thurlow however can afford Hartlett to Ellis and Wines to Priddis. Downgrading Stevenson allows me to afford Watson next week and to bring in staker for Heath.. my question is is it important to grab hold of value rookie cash cows ie. Thurlow, Staker or trade aggressively for points ie. Priddis prior to bye rounds and if so, why?

    • Hook

      May 24, 2013 at 11:18 am

You set on getting rid of Hartlett this week? otherwise you could go Stevenson to Thurlow and wines to Watson this week.
Traditional rookie down/up trades are the way to go at this time of the year.

    • DreamKillaz

      May 24, 2013 at 12:18 pm

Stick with hartlett, it’s his first season which hasn’t been interrupted by injury and he is new to copping a tag, like Dangerfield at the start of the year. The team should be trying to figure out a way to change this. (theres already news articles about it) once he can figure out the tag he is 90+ .
It is important to get Thurlow in as he is definitely going to be making the important first couple of price rises, if his JS goes after that you will still make a profit from him. The stocks of good rookies are drying up.
You could also trade Mayes -> Thurlow (move goodes to Mid), and Heath -> Hanley ?
Only part I disagree with Hook is would trade Mayes before Wines. Wines will drop this week also but not as much as Mayes. I’d personally do the Mayes->Thurlow, Heath->Hanley Trade. Then next week Stevenson->Staker (by moving goodes back to DEF) Wines->Watson. Or something along those lines anyway

      • DreamKillaz

        May 24, 2013 at 12:56 pm

Scratch that, thought Staker was Fwd/Mid, he is Def/Fwd. So if i had your team id defs consider the above trades.

      • Hook

        May 24, 2013 at 12:56 pm

        Fair trades.
I guess I like Mayes, I think he has some good scores to come and I think his DPP will come in handy during the byes. Looking at his team I think he needs an upgrade in his mids. If he has enough money to go mayes to Watson then that’s even better.

        • DreamKillaz

          May 24, 2013 at 5:18 pm

Either way would work, forward line and ruck is stacked which is why there are only 3 premo Def’s and 5 Premo mid’s. I only lean towards defenders because they seem to be better value for some reason, and usually more consistent as well because forward tag’s aren’t as common.
Either way as long as cash cows are being cashed and upgraded it’s building. I think Mayes will come good as well but with a b/e of 93 it may take a while so unless he’s a long term keep may as well trade now instead of waiting 5 rounds for him to get over 300k again

  19. Austin

    May 24, 2013 at 10:28 am

DEF: Goddard, Heppell, Ellis, Terlich, Goodes, Vlastuin.

MID: Swan, Mitchell, Watson, Swallow, Cotchin, O’Meara, Selwood, Hodge.

    RUC: Leuenberger, Bellchambers.

FWD: Martin, Stokes, Kennedy, Johnson, Dwyer, Mayes.

Changes this week are Stevenson to Thurlow (bench) and Wines to Mitchell. Next week I’m thinking Jones to B.Kennedy (bench) and Mayes to Bartel/J.Lewis. Opinions on team and trades?

    • Kyrie

      May 24, 2013 at 11:22 am

dope team. good trades too. Do you think you’ll eventually trade ellis to like a Gibbs later on?

    • DreamKillaz

      May 24, 2013 at 12:19 pm

Helps when you include your bench

  20. Toooovs

    May 24, 2013 at 11:48 am

DEF: Goddard, Birchall, Hanley, Hartlett, Terlich, Vlastuin, Goodes, Laird

MID: Ablett, Pendlebury, Murphy, Dangerfield, Cotchin, Moloney, Dwyer, O’Meara, Evans,

    R: Cox, Leuenberger, Blicavs, Osborn

FWD: Martin, Rockliff, Bartel, Franklin, Johnson, J.Kennedy, Macaffer, B.Kennedy

Thinking of Goodes to Thurlow and Moloney to a premium but no idea who, thoughts on who to trade in? I was thinking out of:

  21. inthefog

    May 24, 2013 at 11:56 am

Selwood tempting with his 150 on GWS last time out. RD 12 bye could be handy.

  22. WestcoastWarrior

    May 24, 2013 at 12:13 pm

Really struggling with my last trade lads. Pittard to Thurlow is locked in, and this leaves me with $135, 800 in the bank. So far these are the options I have looked at:

    Option 1: Stevenson to Vlastuin
Option 2: Mayes to Clarke (Cox DPP switch)
    Option 3: Moloney to Watson
    Option 4: Mayes to Franklin

I thought about option 1 initially but then realised that I have pretty much missed the Vlastuin train, and he screws up my defence in the round 11 bye. Option 2 has been the one that I have had for a while, but I just couldn’t resist looking at bringing in Jobe or buddy. I think I will pass on buddy though, way too erratic. So it’s really down to this:

    Mayes to Clarke
    Moloney to Watson

    • DreamKillaz

      May 24, 2013 at 12:24 pm

Well you don’t want to bring in Clarke because coming from a Fremantle member he is more eratic then buddy. And moloney is scoring well so wouldn’t help much upgrading him to Watson. In saying that I guess Moloney will need to go eventually. Maybe Mayes to staker this week which gives you 288k to work with next week ? Not sure how this affects your bye rounds but in the long run its the better option

      • WestcoastWarrior

        May 24, 2013 at 12:28 pm

Only reason I am keen on Clarke is because they have Melbourne this week and he has a breakeven of 17, which should become negative when they play the crows, so then in round 11 I can bring in a premium ruckman. It’s a tough choice, really gonna stress on this one today.

    • Matt

      May 24, 2013 at 12:29 pm

Obviously it’s your choice with your team structure but I reckon option 1 is clearly the best trade, hard to think you have missed the Vlastuin train when his breakeven is so low and has had back 2 back tons.

      • DreamKillaz

        May 24, 2013 at 12:52 pm

yeah Vlas is set to increase a good 60k this week so if your bringing in Clarke for cash short term Vlas is probably a better option ! You just never know with these rookies, Wines scored back to back tonnes as well.

  23. Nathan

    May 24, 2013 at 12:26 pm

Is franklin or roughie a better upgrade option considering price and form and year long keeping?

  24. Kyrie

    May 24, 2013 at 12:28 pm

should I keep hartlett? or trade him out for ellis?

    • DreamKillaz

      May 24, 2013 at 12:47 pm

trading him for Ellis will generate good cash. Wouldn’t recommend as a first choice plan though.

  25. DreamKillaz

    May 24, 2013 at 12:44 pm

    Going into this week with:
DEF: Goddard, Hep, Hartlet, Birchall, Terlich, Vlas (Thurlow, Laird)
MID: Swan, Ablett, Pendle, Danger, Mitchell, Fyfe, Wines, O’Meara (Kommer, Goodes)
    RUC: Cox, Roughy (Blicavs, Daw)
FWD: Martin, Rockliff, Bartell, Robinson, JJK, Dwyer (Macaffer, Kennedy)
    102k Spare

Reeeeally wanted to upgrade Wines to K.Jack but I still had Griff in the rucks and after Daw on field last week decided not to take the risk so I upgraded Griff to Roughy..
Next week looking at Macaffer->Staker and either Wines->Jack or Terlich->Hanley, depending on what they all score this week.

  26. Pinochio

    May 24, 2013 at 12:46 pm

dwyer or caff on the field guys???

last decision on the week! :)

    • DreamKillaz

      May 24, 2013 at 12:48 pm

Dwyer, Caff is more consistent but consistent 60/70’s .. Dwyer is more of a risk but higher ceiling could get you 100. depends if you want to take a risk or not.

    • inthefog

      May 24, 2013 at 12:50 pm

Depends on your penchant for risk taking. Would you prefer 60-70 or 40-100? It’s pretty even, really.

    • Pinochio

      May 24, 2013 at 12:58 pm

      ye unsure lolz….

what about goodes? where would ya rank him along the other 2?

      • DreamKillaz

        May 24, 2013 at 5:21 pm

I’d choose Goodes over both, agree with inthefog Caf is 60-70, Dwyer is 40-100, id rate Goodes 60-100

  27. Josh

    May 24, 2013 at 1:02 pm

    Hey pals
    Rank #500

DEF – Goddard, Hanley, Heppell, Scotland, Gibbs, Vlastuin. (Terlich, Laird)
MID – Ablett, Swan, Pendles, S.Mitchell, Thommo, JPK, Moloney, O’Meara. (M.Jones, Evans)
RUC – Cox, Leue. (Blicavs, Rowe)
FWD – Martin, Rocky, Bartel, Kennedy, Zorko, Dwyer. (Macaffer, Staker)

That is my team after trades:
    S.Mitchell IN Whitfield OUT
    Staker IN Mayes OUT

Would’ve liked to have got Watson but need a RD11 MID. Also keen to upgrade FWD 6 but no clear standouts yet. Would like Thurlow but no space for him. Any thoughts on my trades?

    • DreamKillaz

      May 24, 2013 at 5:28 pm

No need for Thurlow only 3 rookie upgrades until you have complete squad. You seem to have it all sussed just need to move on Rowe next week, may be difficult to find a ruck bench replacement.
I like the Mitchell trade I did that one last week, hawks have a good run and Mitchell is in great form.
Maybe N.Riewoldt into forward line if you can, he’s gonna have sore shoulders from carrying that side and no amount of tags seem to stop him this year.

  28. Matt

    May 24, 2013 at 1:04 pm

This week traded Pittard to Thurlow and Stevenson to Hanley.

DEF: Goddard, Hanley, Mackie, Terlich, Goodes, Vlastuin ( Huchins, Thurlow )

MID: Ablett, Swan, Pendles, Jelwood, Shuey, O’Meara, Priddis, Fyfe ( Jones, Evans )

    RUC: Minson, Burger ( Daw, O’hAilpin )

FWD: Martin, Rockliff, Cox, Kennedy, Johnson, Lecras ( Macaffer, Mayes )

      May 24, 2013 at 1:25 pm

Not bad you will still need to upgrade Kennedy Lecras berger jelwood shuey priddis fyfe and mackie as well as your rookies though if you want to be competitive.

      • Matt

        May 24, 2013 at 3:57 pm

        Thanks for the feedback

      • DreamKillaz

        May 24, 2013 at 5:44 pm

what sort of advice is that. you’ve just pointed out all the lower end premo’s, well done. And I disagree jelwood priddis fyfe and probably berger are fine for the long run. Its hard to get a full 22 performing premo’s considering injury and drops in form. Good luck with that Delicious

  29. Matt

    May 24, 2013 at 1:06 pm

Only playing 4 rookies on field at this point
    With about 78k in bank.
    Thoughts on team ?

    May 24, 2013 at 1:09 pm

DEF: Goddard, Gibbs, Heppell, Birchall, Ellis, Terlich (Stevenson, Thurlow)

Seems like good trades. Another idea could be keep the trade of Pittard to Thurlow but put Thomas on the bench and have Macaffer cover for a week and trade Mayes for a decent MID

reason is that Thomas isnt goning to loose you money where Mayes is most likely going to bleed you some cash sitting on your bench

Matthew Lobbe has been withdrawn from the Port vs Geelong clash, Who should I go with Blicavs or Daw?

      May 24, 2013 at 5:29 pm

Tough call probably daw as blicavs will most likely score a 40 where daw even if subbed should get at least 30 and is capable of 100+

        Cheers locked in Dwyer
        Macaffer 21 to QT

Depends if you want to play it safe or risky. Macaffer is a 60-70 player, Dwyer is a 40-100 player. Higher ceiling with Dwyer but more prone to low scores.
