Gibbs to Hartlett, can come back when he’s a bit cheaper, Viney on field, leaving Goodes/Pittard & Evans/Whitfield on respective benches.
Second trade, i have Rowe, Blics & Daw backing up Cox. This week Gawn for Blics & next week Rowe for Berger. Like quite a few Hoff will have to wait.

      May 2, 2013 at 9:32 pm

Why is bringing in a R4 more important than a potential F1?

      • briby

        May 2, 2013 at 9:38 pm

Good point, doesn’t have to wait, but 57thousand good points against 17thousand negative points. Argh the old red button go’in to take a pound’n this week.

        • Dean

          May 2, 2013 at 9:41 pm

On the 17k the Hoff loses (if that is all he loses), I’m guessing you want Stevie J as everyone does, he’ll go up 40k so your back to square 1 but a trade and many points worse off for a R4 that should never really ever be needed

        • Blue boys

          May 2, 2013 at 10:19 pm

briby, so if you are calculating WEsthoff loss on 112 (his average so far this year)…..why would you be trading him out?? 112 average for any forward is exceptional!!!

      • Sceptic

        May 2, 2013 at 10:15 pm

Because Gawn will make some cash while also giving you around sixty odd. Where as Hoff could still pull out a 100 and stevie J a 91 making you lose money and points.

        • Dean

          May 2, 2013 at 10:22 pm

Hoff will not pull out 100. He needs to score 110 to lose 17K… He may get 70 if he’s lucky… Stevie J could then pull out a monster score as he does and he plays well on the Tiges… all for a measly R4… Gawn will never see the field in your side once you bring in the Berger (why do you still not have him)

          • Dean

            May 2, 2013 at 10:25 pm

Hoff BE of 150… Stevie J BE 68…. hmmmmm

            May 2, 2013 at 10:33 pm

A few early bad team decisions, been chasing my tail ever since.

        • briby

          May 2, 2013 at 10:29 pm

Average would be higher except for last weeks 45, seems to have scared everyone, am willing to give him another week, as haven’t got Berger yet, relying on the above mentioned for R2 isn’t good. Gibbs to Hartlett or Birchall?

          • Dean

            May 2, 2013 at 10:31 pm

Hartlett. Birch will drop in price in 2 weeks.

Your call on the Hoff. Why don’t you get the Berg in this week?? His BE is only 7 so he will go up in value again

          • briby

            May 2, 2013 at 10:42 pm

Gibbs to Hartlett, Whitfield to Berger, leaving $564k for next week, at least i have cover, except for Def.

          • Dean

            May 2, 2013 at 10:44 pm

I much prefer that. Gawn is distracting people from what they need to be doing. Good stuff

considering trading out fyfe for birchall( goodes dpp) and gibbs to harlett. My main concern is losing fyfe who has been solid. Are others keeping him for the 2 weeks or dropping him now?

      • Jordan

        May 3, 2013 at 11:14 am

too many backline problems and I reckon fyfe is a gun so im keeping him

  2. Titalicous

    May 2, 2013 at 9:32 pm

Yep Hutchins and Pittard on the back bench and Goddes and Crouch on the mid bench

But Blicavs and Witts in the Ruck bench both playing and Neade and Rowe in the fwd bench both playing.

Question Macaffer over Neade or Rowe now that Toovey is injured?

  3. Salts

    May 2, 2013 at 9:35 pm

Would love some thoughts on what to do with this backline.

    DEF: D. Heppell, B. Goddard, B. Gibbs, B.Goodes, D. Terlich, J. Pittard (C. Heath, L. Stevenson)

    • Dean

      May 2, 2013 at 9:38 pm

Without seeing the rest of your team, its pretty useless

      • Dean

        May 2, 2013 at 9:39 pm

Because in order to bring in Hartlett… I traded out Westhoff

      • facilit8r

        May 2, 2013 at 9:46 pm

        Wow youre amazing Dean.
Swing Heppell into youre Mids. Trade Gibbs. No donuts

    • Salts

      May 2, 2013 at 10:09 pm

        May 2, 2013 at 10:20 pm

Could do similar to what Dean has done. Swing Bartel to Hartlett (bring neade fwd), and trade Pittard to Terlich?

        • inthefog

          May 2, 2013 at 10:20 pm

Either that or pull the trigger early and go Gibbs > Hartlett

        • Dean

          May 2, 2013 at 10:26 pm

          +1

          • Salts

            May 2, 2013 at 10:32 pm

Thanks guys what should I do about the second trade. Sorry about all of the questions, but I am really stuck on what to do. :)

          • Dean

            May 2, 2013 at 10:35 pm

Sorry, I was meant to plus one this suggestion

Swing Bartel to Hartlett (bring neade fwd), and trade Pittard to Terlich

          • Salts

            May 2, 2013 at 10:37 pm

I already have terlich. Should I get Vlastuin?

          • Dean

            May 2, 2013 at 10:38 pm

            yep

      • Salts

        May 2, 2013 at 10:40 pm

Thank you so much for your help :)

        • Dean

          May 2, 2013 at 10:41 pm

No worries, you happy with that solution?

          • inthefog

            May 2, 2013 at 10:44 pm

That’s kinda foolish of me, didn’t realise you already had Terlich. Vlastuin is definitely the next best.

          • Dean

            May 2, 2013 at 10:46 pm

Haham and here was me just agreeing with you :P

          • Salts

            May 2, 2013 at 10:46 pm

Yea I think so. Should I play neade and Mayes in the fwd line. Or Mayes and Macaffer or Dwyer?

          • Dean

            May 2, 2013 at 10:47 pm

            Dwyer and Caff on bench

          • Salts

    Goodes > Vlustuin

    thoughts?

    • Simon

      May 2, 2013 at 10:05 pm

      Last resort

  5. pistol17

    May 2, 2013 at 9:45 pm

    Thinking of going:

Fyfe to hartlett – using the dpp to move hartlett to def for goodes to sit on the mid pine
    Gibbs to one of
Vlastuin – game # 2 could take advantage of a downgrade opportunity
Ellis – low break even, again take advantage of a downgrade opportunity
Birch all – premium for premium

    Thoughts on the Gibbs trade?

    • Angus

      May 2, 2013 at 9:46 pm

      Have to have Birchall mate.

  6. Angus

    May 2, 2013 at 9:45 pm

Feeling like just copping a donut from a Pittard/Gibbs… Any downgrade target for me will only probably get me an extra 50-60 points and save me a trade.
Do I play Kommer or Evans on the field?

    • Dean

      May 2, 2013 at 9:52 pm

      Kommer

  7. Simon

    May 2, 2013 at 9:54 pm

Whitfield to Gawn (thanks Blicavs) and Goodes to Hartlett. Money in the bank plus upgrade a stagnant Def. Win win!

    • Dean

      May 2, 2013 at 9:56 pm

Were you one of the lucky few to avoid a lot of the carnage?

      • Simon

        May 2, 2013 at 10:07 pm

Don’t have Pittard, but have the others (Hepp, Gibbs and Goodes) and had Whitfield and Fyfe on the mid bench. So no, didn’t avoid all of it… just have managed to minimise it. On paper at least! It’s easy to be a Thursday expert.

  8. Tom

    May 2, 2013 at 9:57 pm

Westhoff and Hodge to Watson and Hartlett and have one donut or Goodes and Hodge Hartlett and Hanley and only have a 4 Premo midfield?

    • Dean

      May 2, 2013 at 10:45 pm

Whats more important? Short term points or long term players?

      • inthefog

        May 2, 2013 at 10:47 pm

Preferably both. Perhaps Hodge to a mid/def who can fill in the backline? Depends on your squad.

        • Tom

          May 2, 2013 at 10:54 pm

My Backline and Midfield at the end of Round 5 was this:

Def: Goddard, Heppell, Gibbs, Goodes, Heath, Terlich. (Pittard, Stevenson.)

Mid: Swan, Ablett, Pendlebury, Swallow, Hodge, Wines, O’Meara, Evans. (Crouch, Dwyer.) $316,200 Remaining.

          • Dean

            May 2, 2013 at 11:02 pm

Hoff > Hartlett, Hepp MID bench.

            Pittard > Hibberd/Hanley, Goodes & Gibbs bench

Anyone considering waters as a cheeky POD in the back line?
Has a good run up until the byes and a good bye round (would keep until the byes)

Otherwise maybe downgrade to Vlastuin? (Would only get waters instead so as not to lose points and ranking)

    • Dean

      May 2, 2013 at 10:30 pm

Waters has a BE of 132 and is averaging only 88. He will be bleeding money

  10. Michael

    May 2, 2013 at 10:04 pm

Heppell, Gibbs, Goodes, Pittard, Whitfield, Fyfe, Crouch, i’m guaranteed multiple donuts…FMDT

    May 2, 2013 at 10:27 pm

Same as most – Gibbs, goodes and Heppell out.

Thinking of going Gibbs to Scotland and Heppell to birchall or hartlet ?

    Thoughts ?

    • Dean

      May 2, 2013 at 10:29 pm

Why would you trade out 2 of the DEF players you would have in your final team?

  12. ziraxe

    May 2, 2013 at 10:36 pm

    I don’t want zeros

    • Dean

      May 2, 2013 at 10:38 pm

surely there is another way using DPP. Get one of them into your MIDs bench and trade out Goodes if need be

  13. George

    May 2, 2013 at 10:44 pm

guys im in a pickle with my backline. i have 140k in bank and my two options are goodes out to shaw or pittard out to seirwowski. Thoughts to which one?

  14. Steven

    May 2, 2013 at 10:44 pm

Heppell not playing? Ohh my god, I was going to trade him in. Damn. Who should I trade in instead? Watson or Stanton then?(posted this in the wrong forum initially)

    • Dean

      May 2, 2013 at 10:47 pm

Watson as he is rock bottom. Were you bringing Hepp into your mids?

      • Steven

        May 2, 2013 at 10:53 pm

yeah was going to put him in mids then put goodes on mid bench, was going to

        • Steven

          May 2, 2013 at 10:54 pm

watson scored a pretty poor 60 something the other day and gets tagged a lot. stanton has had a really good season so far and is perfectly suited to dt. i personally prefer stants….but….????

          • Dean

            May 2, 2013 at 10:57 pm

Watson had 1 bad game… Maybe Stants is due? Stanton is a gun. You can’t go wrong really. Watson should not get any cheaper this season. Either way, you win :)

          • Steven

            May 2, 2013 at 10:58 pm

or should i just get birchall?

          • Steven

            May 2, 2013 at 10:58 pm

or should i risk hartlett against a good team?

          • Dean

            May 2, 2013 at 11:03 pm

I’d go Hartlett, Birch will drop in price with the 80 in his 3 game average

  15. Lachy

    May 2, 2013 at 10:58 pm

What to people think, with all backline carnage and having gibbs, pittard, heppel and goodes out, thinkinbg of going
    Gibbs>Shaw
    Goodes>Taylor

    Thoughts? Taylor new role

  16. Steven

    May 2, 2013 at 10:58 pm

steele sidebottom has an easy b/e and should make me some money and score well at the same time….

  17. Neil

    May 2, 2013 at 11:02 pm

    Which one?

    Gibbs -> Hartlet
    Goodes -> Shaw

    OR

    Gibbs -> Hartlet
    Neade ->

I am wanting to keep Goodes as he will make more $$$ and have bench cover for mids in evans and Terlich in def.

    Thoughts?

    • Neil

      May 2, 2013 at 11:03 pm

      ***Neade -> Shaw

      • Dean

        May 2, 2013 at 11:05 pm

2 good ins there. You don’t have the Hoff or Hodgey or Bartel bleeding cash that you can fix at the same time?

        • Neil

          May 2, 2013 at 11:09 pm

Nope. I would never trade those blokes in.

          • Dean

            May 2, 2013 at 11:11 pm

Good, in that case do it with Neade… Dwyer would be better if you had him (to get rid of) but Neade will do

  18. Jared

    May 2, 2013 at 11:06 pm

    Hibberd, Yarran or Dixon?

    • Neil

      May 2, 2013 at 11:17 pm

I think so too. He (Neade) isn’t going to go up much in price and is sitting on my bench.

      Scotland or Hartlett?

      • Dean

        May 2, 2013 at 11:22 pm

        Hartlett for mine.

Scotland may rip it up this week with Gibbs out but I think no more than Hartlett and not as consistently

        • Neil

          May 2, 2013 at 11:25 pm

Are you serious? His next 5 games are Melbourne, St Kilda, Port, Brisbane and GWS. He has averaged between 86-104 for the last 7 seasons? Not consistent?

          • Dean

            May 2, 2013 at 11:26 pm

Not this year I dont reckon. And once Gibbs comes back… You gotta remember the role he played is not being compromised with Walker, Yarran and Gibbs al back there providing the run that he scored so well for

          • Neil

            May 2, 2013 at 11:30 pm

Mmmmmm…… I just dont wanna jump on Hartlett cos everyone else is and i reckon he will spud it up.

          • Dean

            May 2, 2013 at 11:32 pm

Go with your gut. I sincerely hope Scotland kills it, he’s a long term gun as you proved with those figures before

    Trades complete….

thoughts on P.hanley ? is he a good choice already have hartlett and birchall in my backline.

    • Dean

      May 2, 2013 at 11:12 pm

Yes, good player, brought him into my SC team this week

      • DTKING

        May 2, 2013 at 11:16 pm

Cheers Dean, i deciding between hanley, burgoyne and possibly waters. What are ur thoughts ?

        • Dean

          May 2, 2013 at 11:20 pm

Waters not having his usual impact. Burgoyne is a good player, but I’d take Hanley over him.

Hibberd is the smokey choice worth a few $$$$ less

          • DTKING

            May 2, 2013 at 11:22 pm

Yeah, hibberd is a good choice, forgot all about heath scotland think he might kill melbourne?

          • Dean

            May 2, 2013 at 11:23 pm

I hope he does especially with Gibbs out, but no more than Hanley will… Hanley will be a better long term inclusion as well for mine

  22. Stevo

    May 2, 2013 at 11:15 pm

    DEF: D. Heppell, B. Goddard, B. Gibbs, B.Goodes, D. Terlich, J. Pittard (C. Heath, L. Stevenson)
    MID: D. Swan, G. Ablett jnr, S. Pendlebury, T. Cotchin, S. Mitchell, O. Wines, J. O’Meara, L. Whitfield (M. Evans, J. Neade)
    RUC: D. Cox, M. Leunberger (M. Blicavs, S. Rowe)
    FWD: T. Rockliff, J. Kennedy, J. Westhoff, D. Martin, J. Bartel, S. Mayes (S. Dwyer, B. Macaffer)

    224k left

My original trades were Hoff to stevie J and Goodes to Hartlett.
Now I’m thinking Goodes to Hartlett Which leaves me with 40,800 and Gibbs to one of hanley, scotland, waters, grimes or burgoyne. I can’t afford Birchall. thinking either Scotland or Hanley. Or should I take a 0 in the defense and do the Hoff trade still. Does anyone know how much he’s projected to lose?
    Thoughts please?

    • Stevo

      May 2, 2013 at 11:15 pm

Also I’m ranked 352 and don’t really want to drop too much.

    • Dean

      May 2, 2013 at 11:18 pm

BE 132, projected 17K loss with score of 110.

Stevie J has BE 68, project 13K gain with score of 103.

      You considered Hibberd?

      • Stevo

        May 2, 2013 at 11:28 pm

I have but I think its most likely out of hanley and scotland.

        • DTKING

          May 2, 2013 at 11:30 pm

Same dilemma Stevo, i’m learning slightly towards hanley with his higher ceiling, but scotland vs melbourne is very tempting indeed. Go with you gut i say, mine says hanley.

Just went pittard to Hartlett. Then swapped hoff into mids for neade and traded him to scotland and moved goodes into mid bench. Thoughts?

      • Stevo

        May 3, 2013 at 12:34 am

Just changed it again. This time hoff to hartlett and goodes to birchall. Can’t afford birchall if i trade pittard.

hi. last week i made good trades, and made some cash. should i do the same this week and make more cash, or is it time to start upgrading? i feel like this is the last week before we do start some real upgrades. am i right? should i do two more trades again this week, solely for the purpose of cash revenue? i have a strong enough team to still push 2000+ if that’s what your worried about….but just wanted to know if it’s too late for cash making and time to start upgrading?

  26. MR SHANNEN A BUTTERS

    May 3, 2013 at 12:31 am

Hey guys. I think I managed to avoid any doughnuts with some trades that I kinda wish I didnt need to do. But we’ll see.

    My team BEFORE trades:

DEF: Goddard, Gibbs, Goodes, H.Taylor, Stevenson, Pettard (Terlich, Colquhoun)
MID: Swan, Ablett, Murphy, Cotchin, Wines, O’Meara, Mayes, Dwyer (Crouch, Viney)
RUCK: Cox, The Burger (Rowe, Currie)
FWD: Westhoff, Rockliff, Cloak, Kennedy, Franklin, Bartel (Macaffer, Neade).

Basically I swapped Bartel and Dwyer over (Bartel to mid and Dwyer to forward), Traded Bartel for Hartlett. Then I swapped Hartlett and Gibbs, put Gibbs on the bench, for Viney. I then traded Pettard for Vlastuin and swapped Goodes to the bench for Terlich. Finally I put Dwyer on the bench for Neade into the lineup up forward.

Basically, I kept Gibbs and Goodes, while dodging any doughnuts (save any last minute exclusions).

    Thoughts guys?

People’s thoughts on Saunders from St.Kilda as a downgrade option instead of laird. Played 1 game as the sub, killed it and plays friday night so will know if he is the sub or not

      May 3, 2013 at 7:53 am

I had thought of him and think he looked very good.

    May 3, 2013 at 12:45 am

Decided to go Whitfield to Hartlett (Goodes going to mids bench), and Westhoff to Stevie J.

In all honesty, the 2nd trade feels like a luxury when I should be spending it on securing some def & mid cover, but I have a feeling this could be a boat I don’t want to miss. Keeping an eye on the long term (fell to rank 3716 last round) which is why Evans is a risky start with no cover. Will have $2,355,300 worth of players on the bench this round, with only Neade & Blicavs being reliable cover with Rowe (now in forward line as Cox is covering ruck hole) on extended bench.

Dangerfield to Hartlett… DPP Hartlett to Def with Gibbs now on Mid bench
    Westhoff to S.J.

    Def emerg Goodes/Pittard
    Mid emerg Gibbs/Evans

SFA emegerncies but gets me through this week and also shakes off some dead/dying wood…

    Thoughts?

Pretty happy given all the carnage down back, managed to avoid a donught somehow!!

Traded Fyfe for Hartlett, bringing Gibbs into Mid bench
and Traded Goodes for Hanley with Heppell and Pittard on bench.

When Gibbs comes back my backline will now be:
Gibbs, Birchall, Goddard, Heppell, Hartlett, Hanley (2 Port boys on bench)
    and a pretty complete backline!!

      May 3, 2013 at 8:49 am

Any suggestions with the below? Money is not an issue, got 430k in the kitty:

Backs: Birchall, Goddard, Goodes, Stevenson, Terlich, Pittard (Heppell, Gibbs)

Centres: Swan, Pendles, Delids, J.Kennedy, Wines, Moloney, O’Meara, Evans (Neade, Crouch)

    Rucks: Cox, Luey (Kruezer, Blicavs)

Forwards: Rockliff, Kennedy, Bartel, Dwyer, Mayes, Macaffer (Rowe, Karnezis)
