Golden Stubby – Round 17

Get your votes in for the Round 17 Golden Stubby. Choose between GWS jets Adam Treloar and Tommy Bugg, Calvin’s number one pick Dane Swan, the man who has made a massive return in Scott Pendlebury and the brilliant ball magnet Jack Grimes.

Voting is now open for the DT TALK Golden Stubby for Round 17. This coveted prize will be awarded to the player who excelled on the weekend, taking into account price, form, opponent and whatever else tickles your fancy!

This weeks nominations (collected by @WarnieDT through Twitter) are:

  • Adam Treloar (108). What a week to step up with a nice ton. He would have been the emergency for a lot of coaches with the unexpected donut of Mitch Robinson or even just covering Buddy still. Whatever the case, if you had him playing on your ground, you’d be a happy coach!
  • Tommy Bugg (102). Was he Brought-on for you this week (haha… do you like that?!)… what a ripper score from the guy who has come through in a time of need for a few coaches!
  • Dane Swan  (165). Or should I make that score 330 as he SHOULD have been your captain. Calvin said it was the safest bet ever on DT Talk LIVE this week, and he ended up being that! There has been talk about how the fantasy pig had 49 disposals but shouldn’t get a Brownlow vote… who gives a sh*t about that?! It was pure fantasy piggery!
  • Scott Pendlebury (142). This nomination is for those coaches who held onto to him through the pain of the multi-bye rounds for what was supposed to be a 1-2 week injury. It wasn’t but the gun has made those who held him happy and he is now a massively awesome point of difference… hey Roy!
  • Jack Grimes (135). With a few failures this week, Grimesy loved his circle work up in Darwin. Despite their loss, the Demons co-captain racked up plenty of touches for us and those with him are laughing. The special thing about this is that there was doubt on him to play after a bit of an ankle injury last week!
Honorable Mentions: Steve Johnson, Gary Ablett, Matthew Pavlich, Dayne Beams, Paddy Dangerfield, Jordan Lewis, Sam Gibson.

I’d have given it to Beams. He’s done me nothing but good since he walked through the door on the eve of his price and form explosion all those rounds back, Well deserving of a frosty schtub and a tip o’ the hat from this satisfied coach

Predictable swanny would get it. But it should be boys like Bugg or Treloar someone who did something unexpected and was a point of difference. But yeah, the pig was great.

Why would you have Drew Petrie? He’s in a purple patch now, but I had enough of his inconsistent rubbish last year.

Inconsistent shi* last year? Are you both smoking crack? Petrie was priced 250k and finished the year with an 80+ average last year.

I didn’t say he wasn’t a good pickup at that price last year, obviously he was, especially with his RF eligibility. However, his standard deviation is very high for a premium forward and he can really go missing. I certainly wasn’t going to rush out and pay full price for him this year as a forward only.

He’s not an awful pick, but I just never saw any reason to consider him.

hes let me down 3 or 4 times, but now hes really starting to produce good scores week-in week-out

I was gonna go Pendles ahead of Swan due to the POD factor but saw that Pendles is in 24% of teams and Swan suprisingly is only in 29%

Therefore Swanny captain gets my vote

How do you find out those stats on assistant coach?

      • Andrew

        July 23, 2012 at 9:15 am

Just look up a player on the dreamteam site. No assistant coach required

    • Ingoes

      July 23, 2012 at 4:54 pm

In the top 15-20,000 teams, I’d say Pendles would be more of a POD than that, and Swanny much less. Stats that take in the whole 287K teams, ghost ships and themed teams and ultra-noobs included, lie.

Depends how much cash you have. If you have cash then get the best player, if not then someone like marc murphy for 384k is a bargin

If you have enough money I suggest getting Pendlebury, absolute star with a break even of 59 shall go up heaps priced at 472,000 bound to go up not enough money then I suggest going with a Marc Murphy his break even 69 I think should still be a good option.

I was gonna have Swan as captain but then at the last minute I took a chance and put Zorko as captain. FMDT

I was going to do the exact same thing, but after a hargrave and Darley didnt make the cut plus question marks over Robinson and Dangerfield I thought better to still with the sure thing :)

      Still love the Z man
