Golden Stubby – Round 11

Get around the Round 11 Golden Stubby. This award is probably a little more important this week as there was a whole lot of rubbish we had to put up with to limp to some of the worst Dream Team scores we’ve seen in our careers! Who deserves it? Beams, Sidebottom, Swan, Watson… or the left field Jason Blake?! Vote now!

Voting is now open for the DT TALK Golden Stubby for Round 11. This coveted prize will be awarded to the player who excelled on the weekend, taking into account price, form, opponent and whatever else tickles your fancy!

This weeks nominations (collected by @WarnieDT through Twitter) are:

  • Dayne Beams (155). Absolutely sensational to help boost the scores for his owners on the Monday long weekend after a round of sh*tness. 37 touches and a goal to top score for the day.
  • Steele Sidebottom (150). After letting Calvin and the rest of us down last week when we put the C on him, he bounced back for a ripper today. 36 touches and a great goal. A handy score for those who reversed trades and left the C on him!
  • Dane Swan (142). The biggest Fantasy Pig of them all. After his two weeks off, he was back fresh and ready to go. 42 touches and two goals was a brilliant return for those smart enough to hold him (yes, I’m kicking myself).
  • Jobe Watson (131). Jobe was awesome in the Bombers come back at Etihad Stadium. Some jumped on him this week over Stanton and would be very happy. One of the few premium midfielders to score well this round.
  • Jason Blake (131). I have only put Blake in here off the back off @stkildathunda’s tweet: “noone will have him, Jason Blake deserves it for his enormous match! He cant buy a brownlow vote so next best thing!” Haha. Hopefully he gets one this week!

Who deserves the Golden Stubby for Round 11

  • Dayne Beams (35%, 741 Votes)
  • Steele Sidebottom (19%, 401 Votes)
  • Dane Swan (18%, 380 Votes)
  • Jobe Watson (17%, 364 Votes)
  • Jason Blake (11%, 224 Votes)

Total Voters: 2,110

Great call… didn’t get a nomination until just then on Twitter (after I put poll together). A worth nom, but sorry… doesn’t make the cut! I’ll be bringing him back into the Warne Dawgs after the bye!

Wow, didn’t realise how good Grimes has been lately after hearing so much hate from you Warnie haha

Averaging 96 since missing rd 4 with a low of 75. Might get on him after his bye, priced at $405k

Would have done even better this season after getting KO’d on 65 when he was well on track for 100.

One of the best sleeper picks all season.

Grimes on debut for me – so glad Bower was dropped and made me pull the trigger! But the Pig should get the stubby. Oink!

It’s good to see some recognition to Jobe Watson, very underrated player both DT and AFL.

My only unique pick that worked (I’m looking at you Golby and Big Sauce Jacobs). He was a lock though, starting price of ave 100 but was averaging 110 before his injury last year and his goal scoring ability this year has given him a whole new dimension as well as his consistency.

to hard to pick out of the first 4!!!!

sideys been my big pick of the year from the start.

brought in watto and beams this week!!! which gave me 182 extra points!!!

and swan proved the doubters wrong and won me a league game single handedly by beating m.williams, m.clarke and j.magner (against our mate mcrath as well!!!)

so for that it goes to swanny!!!

Did you read the words up there? Here they are again for you:

Jason Blake (131). I have only put Blake in here off the back off @stkildathunda’s tweet: “noone will have him, Jason Blake deserves it for his enormous match! He cant buy a brownlow vote so next best thing!” Haha. Hopefully he gets one this week!

That is funny… especially if you’ve been following the campaign for him to get a Brownlow vote. PLUS in the 20 minutes of calling for nominations, there were only 4 players put forward… Blake was the 5th.

He doesn’t deserve to win it, so don’t vote for him.

sorry warnie my bad only scanned the notes and missed the humour. i agree on both fronts. everyone has a good game every now and then. If only we could pick it each week.

I still can’t understand how a mid pricer averaging 100 is dreamteam irrevelant?

      • Warnie

        Warnie

        June 12, 2012 at 7:39 am

How? He is in less than 1% of teams (it’s like 2600 or so). Even with that 160 he has only increased $26k in value. Hardly a midpricer that has come good. If you’re picking a midpricer in your midfield or that sort of return, you’re doing it wrong.

Giving my vote to Jobe “Kobe” Watson for his consistency all year long. I would have him captain if I didn’t rush in Ablett this week.

Warnie wearing the green vest looks like he is in an ugly sports bra.

Beams for the Golden Stubby, (Beams, Swan, Sidey & Watson – should all be locks for your side).
