Partial Lockout Expanded in 2011

DT TALK EXCLUSIVE: The Partial Lockout will be expanded in 2011 to cover the rounds for all Thursday starts. That means that we will have right up until the 2nd match of the round to lock our teams in. Great work Virtual Sports… 3 opportunities at the Captain Loophole!

The partial lockout will cover all Thursday games in 2011

DT TALK EXCLUSIVE: Virtual Sports brought in the partial lockout in 2010 so that we didn’t have to lock our teams in on the Thursday night of Round 1, after teams were up at 5pm and the servers went into melt down. This was a winner as we had all of Friday to play with our teams with unlimited trades with only players from the Blues and Tigers being locked.

The good news in that in 2011, we will be able to do this for the three rounds that have Thursday starts (last year we missed out on the Easter Round).

Rounds where the partial lockout will be in effect:

  • Round 1
Carlton v Richmond game locked until 7:40pm AEST Friday.
  • Round 5
Brisbane v St Kilda game locked until 3:10pm AEST Saturday.
  • Round 6
West Coast v Melbourne game locked until 7:40pm AEST Friday.

A big positive is that again, we will have that first Friday to lock our teams in (minus the Blues and Tigers) and also see the Sunday line-ups on Friday evening. We will however not now the inaugural Gold Coast team as they have the bye inround 1.

The best decision here is that Round 5 will be a partial lockout as the first game is on the Thursday night with the last game of the Round on the Tuesday. Hopefully we will have a squad to look at before the Saturday lockout so we aren’t making changes completely blind… and oh, that round sucks heaps as there are only 7 games – meaning 3 teams will have byes. If you have players from Hawthorn or Geelong, you’ll be sweating bullets on whether your dudes are playing or not!
